About the Show
Based on Louisa May Alcott's autobiographical novel of the same name, Little Women the Musical follows the journey of Jo March from adolescence to early adulthood.
New York, 1865 , as Jo pursues her ambition to become a world renowned writer, her story is met with rejection one after the other. With the influence of her fellow lodger Professor Bhaer, Jo recalls her life growing up in Orchard House with her family and neighbors, during the absence of their father while he served the Union Army during the Civil War; her steadfast mother, Marmee. Jo's beautiful and luxury yearning elder sister Meg, younger sister Beth, the shy and musical heart of the family, and artistic and society loving youngest sister Amy.
We follow the family's triumphs and hardships, their meetings and friendships (mainly their wealthy neighbors, Mr. Laurence, his grandson Laurie and Laurie's tutor Mr. Brooke) and their overbearingly prim and proper Aunt March. As the girls become young women, Jo finds her identity and life passions undergoing great change. As she pulls from her true lived experience, she discovers her astonishing masterpiece of her family's life in her work, Little Women.
