Educational Opportunities

Get hours for community service, or earn a theater patch for your Girl Scout Program, and learn about the theater process!

TAP provides an environment for all members of the Arlington community to explore, learn, inspire, and become involved in the elements of theater through education programs.

For High Schoolers (Ages 13-18):

  • Set Building: learn how to build a theater set! We will cover the basics of scene shop safety along with how to use certain tools and complete a building project from reading a sketch, measuring it out, and assembling it.
  • Set Painting: learn how to paint theater sets, scenery, backdrops and more! We will cover basic painting techniques as well as detail work including textures, shading, and highlighting.
  • Production Stage Crew: experience the backstage world of theater! We will cover how things function backstage with lights, sound, set, props, and costumes.

We build and paint sets at:
Gunston Arts Center Scene Shop
2700 South Lang Street, Arlington 22206
